Gym Cancellation Guide
How to Cancel Your Life Time Membership
Life Time is a corporate owned premium chain. Cancellation requires written notice to your home club, delivered in person or by mail, and takes effect at the end of your billing period once the notice window passes. Their dues are among the highest in the industry, which makes proof of your notice date worth more here than anywhere.
At $100 plus per month, one disputed billing cycle costs more than a year of certified mail receipts. Put the notice date beyond argument.
Ways to cancel Life Time
- written notice to your home club
- in person at your home club
Notice period and fee timing
Life Time requires advance written notice, and cancellations take effect at the end of a billing cycle. Dues are high enough that one missed cycle is real money, so do not cut the timing close.
Why a certified letter beats every other method
Gym cancellations fail for one reason: no proof. Front desk staff forget, forms get lost, phone reps say one thing and the billing system does another. A cancellation letter sent by USPS Certified Mail with return receipt gives you a delivery date the gym signed for. If billing continues past your notice period, that green card is the evidence your bank needs to reverse the charges.
- Check your agreement first. Find your notice period, billing date, and any early termination fee so your letter states the correct final billing date.
- Send the letter certified. Address it to your home club. Keep the receipt and tracking number.
- Watch your next two statements. One final draft inside the notice period is normal. Anything after that gets disputed with your proof of delivery attached.

Cancelling Life Time: common questions
Can I cancel Life Time over the phone or by email?
Life Time is corporate owned, and its accepted methods are: written notice to your home club; in person at your home club. If a method is not listed in your membership agreement, assume a request through that channel will not be honored. Written requests are the only ones that produce proof.
How much notice does Life Time require?
Life Time requires advance written notice, and cancellations take effect at the end of a billing cycle. Dues are high enough that one missed cycle is real money, so do not cut the timing close. The agreement you signed is the final word, so pull it up before sending anything.
What should my Life Time cancellation letter include?
Your full name, the email and phone number on the account, your membership or key tag number, your home club location, a clear statement that you are cancelling, the date you expect billing to stop based on the notice period, and a request for written confirmation. Sign it, date it, and send it by USPS Certified Mail with return receipt.
Life Time kept billing me after I cancelled. What now?
Send a second letter referencing your original cancellation date and your certified mail receipt, demand a refund of the post-cancellation charges, and give them a deadline. If billing continues, dispute the charges with your card issuer or bank and attach your proof of delivery. This is exactly the situation the certified mail receipt exists for.
